Gospel – John 6:51-58

Advertisements

Jesus said to the crowds:

51 “I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.”

52 The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat

53 Jesus said to them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you.

54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day.

55 For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.

56 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him.

57 Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me.

58 This is the bread that came down from heaven. Unlike your ancestors who ate and still died, whoever eats this bread will live forever.”

I Believe

Mǝ̀ mbiŋǝ̀

The Apostles Creed —
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit
and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended to the dead.
On the third day, he rose again.
He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
The Holy Catholic Church,
The communion of saints,
The forgiveness of sins,
The resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

The Glorious Mysteries (5 decades):

1. The Resurrection Jn 20: 11 – 17

Yesǔ a bǝŋnǝ nǝwô

11 But Mary was standing outside at the tomb weeping. So, as she wept, she stooped and looked into the tomb, 12 and she saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head, and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. 13 They told her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, “Because they have taken away my Lord, and I don’t know where they have laid him.”14 When she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing, and didn’t know that it was Jesus. 15 Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Who are you looking for?” She, supposing him to be the gardener, said to him, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away. 16″Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned and said to him, “Rabboni!” which is to say, “Teacher!”17 Jesus said to her, “Don’t hold me, for I haven’t yet ascended to my Father; but go to my brothers, and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’

10 While they were looking steadfastly into the sky as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white clothing, 11 who also said, “You men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? After the Rosary:

Hail Holy Queen

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of mercy,
Hail, our life, our sweetness, and our hope.
To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve
To thee do we send up our sighs,
mourning and weeping in this vale of tears.
Turn then, most gracious Advocate,
Thine eyes of mercy toward us,
And after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus,
O Clement O Loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

In the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary
We may both imitate what they contain and obtain

39 Mary set out and traveled to the hill country in haste to a town of Judah,

40 where she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth.

41 When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit,

42 cried out in a loud voice and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.

43 And how does this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

44 For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy.

45 Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled.”

46 And Mary said:

"My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord;

47 my spirit rejoices in God my Savior

48 for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant. From this day all generations will call me blessed:

49 the Almighty has done great things for me and holy is his Name.

50 He has mercy on those who fear him in every generation.

51 He has shown the strength of his arm, and has scattered the proud in their conceit.

52 He has cast down the mighty from their thrones, and has lifted up the lowly.

53 He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty.

54 He has come to the help of his servant Israel for he has remembered his promise of mercy,

55 the promise he made to our fathers, to Abraham and his children forever."

56 Mary remained with her about three months and then returned to her home.

R. (9a) Taste and see the goodness of the Lord.

Gospel  For Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time Year B–John 6:41-51

Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time Year B

41 The Jews murmured about Jesus because he said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven,”

42 and they said, “Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph? Do we not know his father and mother? Then how can he say, ‘I have come down from heaven’?”

43 Jesus answered and said to them, “Stop murmuring among yourselves.

44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him on the last day.

45 It is written in the prophets: They shall all be taught by God. Everyone who listens to my Father and learns from him comes to me.

46 Not that anyone has seen the Father except the one who is from God; he has seen the Father.

47 Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life.

48 I am the bread of life.

49 Your ancestors ate the manna in the desert, but they died;

50 This is the bread that comes down from heaven so that one may eat it and not die.

51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.”

Responsorial Psalm  For Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year B– Psalms 78:3-4, 23-24, 25, 54

R. (24b) The Lord gave them bread from heaven.

3 What we have heard and know,
and what our fathers have declared to us,
4 We will declare to the generation to come
the glorious deeds of the LORD and his strength
and the wonders that he wrought.
R. The Lord gave them bread from heaven.

23 He commanded the skies above
and opened the doors of heaven;
24 he rained manna upon them for food
and gave them heavenly bread.
R. The Lord gave them bread from heaven.

25 Man ate the bread of angels,
food he sent them in abundance.
54 And he brought them to his holy land,
to the mountains his right hand had won.
R. The Lord gave them bread from heaven.

Gospel For  Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year B

– John 6:24-35

Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year B – Gospel John 6:24-35

24 When the crowd saw that neither Jesus nor his disciples were there, they themselves got into boats and came to Capernaum looking for Jesus.

25 And when they found him across the sea they said to him, “Rabbi, when did you get here?”

26 Jesus answered them and said, “Amen, amen, I say to you, you are looking for me not because you saw signs but because you ate the loaves and were filled.

27 Do not work for food that perishes but for the food that endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him the Father, God, has set his seal.”

28 So they said to him, “What can we do to accomplish the works of God?”

29 Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in the one he sent.”

30 So they said to him, “What sign can you do, that we may see and believe in you? What can you do?

31 Our ancestors ate manna in the desert, as it is written: He gave them bread from heaven to eat.”

32 So Jesus said to them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, it was not Moses who gave the bread from heaven; my Father gives you the true bread from heaven.

33 For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”

34 So they said to him, “Sir, give us this bread always.”

35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of, life; whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst.”

1 Jesus went across the Sea of Galilee.

2 A large crowd followed him, because they saw the signs he was performing on the sick.

3 Jesus went up on the mountain, and there he sat down with his disciples.

4 The Jewish feast of Passover was near.

5 When Jesus raised his eyes and saw that a large crowd was coming to him, he said to Philip, “Where can we buy enough food for them to eat?”

6 He said this to test him, because he himself knew what he was going to do.

7 Philip answered him, “Two hundred days’ wages worth of food would not be enough for each of them to have a little.”

8 One of his disciples, Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, said to him,

9 “There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish; but what good are these for so many?”

10 Jesus said, “Have the people recline.” Now there was a great deal of grass in that place. So the men reclined, about five thousand in number.

11 Then Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed them to those who were reclining, and also as much of the fish as they wanted.

12 When they had had their fill, he said to his disciples, “Gather the fragments left over, so that nothing will be wasted.” 13 So they collected them, and filled twelve wicker baskets with fragments from the five barley loaves that had been more than they could eat

14 When the people saw the sign he had done, they said, “This is truly the Prophet, the one who is to come into the world.”

15 Since Jesus knew that they were going to come and carry him off to make him king, he withdrew again to the mountain alone.

7 Philip answered him, “Two hundred days’ wages worth of food would not be enough for each of them to have a little.” Filibǝ̀ kwe a mbwo zhǝ ngǝ, “Boŋǝ nkabǝ̀ two ngaŋǝ fà’à nǝ njwe nkɛrǝ̀ bya kàkǝ ku’u mǝ ngǝ boŋǝ ŋu nǝ wwa bî ndzwi tsuŋǝ nǝ̀ mǝnyentǝ̀ mǝjyǝ”

8 One of his disciples, Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, said to him, Ŋù-dzǝ̀mǝ̀ yi wi mò’o ma ǝlwenǝ̀ yi bǝ Andreyà ndǝmǝ Shununǝ̀ Bità a swiŋǝ nǝ̀ zhǝ ngǝ,

13 So they collected them, and filled twelve wicker baskets with fragments from the five barley loaves that had been more than they could eat. Bwo ti’i mbentǝ nkhwù’ù dzwu ma ǝ̂ fuu nǝ ǝbanǝ zha ma ǝ chya wwa mǝjyenǝ̀ ǝ luu nkhye nchǝ-bya

14 When the people saw the sign he had done, they said, “This is truly the Prophet, the one who is to come into the world.” Ma bǝ̀ bu zǝ̂ tǝko’o afa’a wu ma Yesù fa’a la bwo swiŋǝ ngǝ .”Li tǝ̀sǝ mbǝ Bropheta wu ma à dzwi mǝ yìi nǝ̀ mǝmǝ̀ nshye la.”
