Gospel – Luke 2:16-21

¹⁶ The shepherds went in haste to Bethlehem and found Mary and Joseph, and the infant lying in the manger.

¹⁸ All who heard it were amazed by what had been told them by the shepherds.

¹⁹ And Mary kept all these things, reflecting on them in her heart.

²¹ When eight days were completed for his circumcision, he was named Jesus, the name given him by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.

¹⁴ Joseph rose and took the child and his mother by night and departed for Egypt.

¹⁵ He stayed there until the death of Herod, that what the Lord had said through the prophet might be fulfilled, Out of Egypt I called my son.

My November with the lord is a set of prayers derived from my daily reflections and meditations. I write down what touches me each day I pray, and I turn back to it on days of dryness. Thus, not every day in my “November with the lord” would have a prayer, for such a day is when I felt empty or dry, and I turned to my written prayers to help me pray. These prayers may also touch you. Just pray with me by reading or listening to the audio. It doesn’t matter if you pray only one at a time or all at the moment or even with a word or phrase that also touches you. Any prayer is important. Let us pray:

Oct 1, 2022, Mt. 5: By Your Grace, Your Blessings Are True, Dear Lord
Loving Father, you bless the pure in heart with the grace to behold you, the merciful with mercy, and the mourners with solace. You promise all good things to those who love you. If these blessings were not possible, you would not have declared them. With you, all things are possible! As your humble pilgrim, empower me to embody the beatitudes in my daily life. Father, I place my trust in you. Amen.

Bless and Be Merciful to Our Faithful Departed, O Lord
Merciful God, my loving Father, today I lift up to you all my faithful departed—my beloved family, relatives, and friends who have gone before us marked with the sign of faith. Shower your mercy upon them and bless them, dear Lord. May their souls, along with all the souls of the faithful departed, enter into everlasting joy and happiness in your paradise. Father, I trust in you. Amen.

In moments of misunderstanding, I find confidence in your knowledge of me. You are my sole refuge, dear Lord; my heart is yours, and yours alone. May this truth anchor my soul. Jesus, I trust in you. O Lord, how boundlessly merciful you are! Though I am a sinner, you came to seek the lost and call me your own. You desire to be my eternal friend, and your kindness astounds me. You are the one I seek, the one I need, for you forgive, correct, and console. I love you, Jesus. Amen.

Nov 17, 2022, Lk 19:41-42: You Did It Out of Love for Me, Lord
Your word reveals that you wept, Jesus. What sorrow moved you? Now I understand the depth of your love for Lazarus and the profound friendship you shared. I long to be your cherished friend as well. I will not dwell in despair, for you have wept, suffered, and died for me. You did it all out of love for me, Lord. I love you too, Jesus. Amen.

Nov 20, 2022: You Are My King
Wounded, hanging on the cross, scorned and despised—this is my King, my Lord and my God. Holy is His name! By His wounds, I am healed; by His blood, I am saved. He is worthy of all praise, worship, and adoration. King of kings, Lord of lords, I exalt you. May your name be glorified on earth and in the heavens, now and forevermore. Amen.

A fire of divine love burns in your heart for me, dear Lord. You desire to cleanse the temple of my soul, restoring me to your original creation. Purify me, merciful Jesus, and grant me the grace to cast away all that defiles me. You fought for my soul to remain your masterpiece. Thank you, my Lord and my God. Amen.

In every circumstance of my life, Lord, you have been my constant companion, knowing me intimately. I trust that what lies ahead is already known and blessed by you. I need not worry; instead, I will unite my mind, body, soul, and spirit with you, confident that your will shall prevail. Though I may feel weak, in you, I find strength and courage. Grant me wisdom and grace to remain focused and overcome all challenges. Thank you, my Lord and my God. Amen.

Nov 24, 2022, Lk 21:27-28: Your Will Be Done, O Jesus
May your kingdom come and be established within me; may your will be done, dear Lord. Journey with me throughout my life. My heart and soul belong to you, my Creator. Though storms may rage and mountains may shake, I will stand firm, unafraid, for you, my Lord, the maker of all, are with me now and forever. Amen.

I desire you, my God, Most High above all. I yearn for you, my Creator. Even when weariness tempts me and earthly distractions pull me away, my longing for you only deepens. I believe you are always with me, Lord. Help me to desire you more fervently and to seek you diligently. Draw me closer to you, dear Lord, for you alone are my heart’s true desire. Jesus, I trust in you. Amen.
