Prayer As A Sure Encounter With God: My December With The Lord

“I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.” – Rev. 3:21

Lord, you came to me in December in a way that transformed my life. Your presence illuminated every moment, reminding me of your unwavering love. You did not come alone; you brought your entire family, filling my heart with Good News and great tidings. I praise you, Lord, for your boundless grace. May your reign be established in my family and within me, now and forevermore.

Dear friends, these prayers serve as my lifeline during dry days. When I feel empty and lost for words, I turn to these reflections. They inspire me, and I listen with awe, as if they were penned by someone else. I invite you to pray with me; may these words resonate with your spirit as they have with mine.

December 12, 2022 – Who is like my God?
I lift my voice in praise to the God who is ever-present. Who is like you, O Lord, steadfast by my side? Your promises are unshakeable. I thank you for your mercies, successes, and the countless blessings that flow from your hand. You are worthy of eternal praise. I will honor you, Lord, all the days of my life. Father, I place my trust in you. Amen.

December 6, 2022 – As Peaceful as a Lamb I Lay
In the tender embrace of my Lord, my Shepherd, I find unparalleled peace. What a profound love envelops me! I gaze into your loving eyes, assured of the victories that await. O Lord, my Shepherd, you are deserving of my deepest thanks and worship. Your praise will be forever on my lips. Amen.

December 16, 2022 – I Shall Shout Out the Goodness of the Lord
I will proclaim the goodness of the Lord! I will sing of His love and the marvelous deeds He has performed. Our God, who has been, who is, and who reigns eternally in our lives, has done wondrous things. How magnificent are your ways, O Lord! You have chosen our paths, guiding me through every trial. You are a Marvelous God, full of surprises, sending angels and saints to accompany me daily. I commit my life to you, O Lord, in gratitude for your mercy, goodness, and love. Amen.

December 19, 2022 – You Are a Perfect God
O Wonderful Father, your ways are beyond comprehension, and your plans are perfect. You write straight with crooked lines, orchestrating every detail of my life. I know that nothing is by chance; it is all part of your divine design. Loving Father, I entrust my life to you. Amen.

December 21, 2022 – You Are Near, O Lord
Here you are, Lord, drawing near to me. What a friend you are, always ready to forgive, console, and love. My heart rejoices in your presence. I have prepared a place for you; come, let us share in communion, for I belong to you, and you belong to me forever. Amen.

December 22, 2022 – My Holy Mother Rejoiced
O Holy Mother, you rejoiced and sang praises to God for the great things He has done. In your joy, you recognized the greatness of our God. May I join you in your song of thanksgiving for the marvels He has performed in my life. He has filled my cup to overflowing and shown His power before His people. I will forever sing with you, Mother Mary, praising His Holy name. Thank you for your intercession and for being a guiding light in my life. Amen, Alleluia!

December 27, 2022 – Thank You for Wonderful Friends, Lord
Thank you, Jesus, for the gift of friends who walk with me on this spiritual journey. Like Saint John, their presence strengthens my faith. Alone, I falter, but together, we uplift one another as we journey toward you. Bless them, O Lord, in this New Year, so we may continue to grow in your love. Infant Jesus, I place my trust in you. Amen.

December 30, 2022 – You Are Real and Active, Lord
I will proclaim from the rooftops that my Lord is real and active! You are present in my life, seeing, hearing, and responding to my every call. You are a living God who never fails. I will sing your praises today and always, for you have answered me once again. Thank you, Jesus; I praise you, Jesus. Amen.

December 30, 2022 – Thank You, Saint Joseph
O most revered Saint Joseph, head of the Holy Family, I thank you for teaching me that holiness is the cornerstone of a good family. Your faithfulness inspires me. Thank you for welcoming me into your Holy Family. Your presence at the wedding feast was a testament to your love. On this feast of your Holy Family, I consecrate my family to you. Please guide us as part of your holy family, granting me the grace to live a life of purity and faithfulness. Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, I love you. Amen.

Gospel – Matthew 5:13-16

13  Jesus said to his disciples: “You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its taste, with what can it be seasoned? It is no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

14  You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden.

15  Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house.

16  Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father.”

Gospel – Matthew 4:12-23

12 When Jesus heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew to Galilee.

13 He left Nazareth and went to live in Capernaum by the sea, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali,

14 that what had been said through Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled:

15 Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, the way to the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles,

16 the people who sit in darkness have seen a great light, on those dwelling in a land overshadowed by death light has arisen.

17 From that time on, Jesus began to preach and say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

18 As he was walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter, and his brother Andrew, casting a net into the sea; they were fishermen.

19 He said to them, “Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men.”

20 At once they left their nets and followed him.

21 He walked along from there and saw two other brothers, James, the son of Zebedee, and his brother John. They were in a boat, with their father Zebedee, mending their nets. He called them,

22 and immediately they left their boat and their father and followed him.

23 He went around all of Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and curing every disease and illness among the people.

32  John testified further, saying, “I saw the Spirit come down like a dove from heaven and remain upon him.

Gospel for The Epiphany of the Lord – Matthew 2:1-12

1 When Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, in the days of King Herod, behold, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem,

2 saying, “Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star at its rising and have come to do him homage.”

3 When King Herod heard this, he was greatly troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.

4 Assembling all the chief priests and the scribes of the people, He inquired of them where the Christ was to be born.

5 They said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it has been written through the prophet:

6 And you, Bethlehem, land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; since from you shall come to a ruler, who is to shepherd my people Israel.”

7 Then Herod called the magi secretly and ascertained from them the time of the star’s appearance.

8 He sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search diligently for the child. When you have found him, bring me word, that I too may go and do him homage.”

9 After their audience with the king they set out. And behold, the star that they had seen at its rising preceded them, until it came and stopped over the place where the child was.

10 They were overjoyed at seeing the star,

11 and on entering the house they saw the child with Mary his mother. They prostrated themselves and did him homage. Then they opened their treasures and offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

12 And having been warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed for their country by another way.
