18:1 After Jesus had spoken these words, he went out with his disciples across the Kidronǝ valley to a place where there was a garden, which he and his disciples entered. 18:20 Jesus answered, “I have spoken openly to the world; I have always taught in synagogues and in the temple, where all the Jews come together. I have said nothing in secret. 18:36 Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not from this world. If my kingdom were from this world, my followers would be fighting to keep me from being handed over to the Jews. 18:37 Pilate asked him, “So you are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. For this I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. 19:6 When the chief priests and the police saw him, they shouted, “Crucify him! 19:10 Pilate therefore said to him, “Do you refuse to speak to me? 19:11 Jesus answered him,̄8 “You would have no power over me unless it had been given you from above; therefore the one who handed me over to you is guilty of a greater sin.” Yesù kwe a mbwo zhǝ ngǝ, “O bikakǝ nǝ mǝ̀tenǝ̀ dzwi ghǝrǝ anyu daŋǝ nnu mwò ma boŋǝ mǝ̀tenǝ̀ mu mya ka bǝ ndǝŋǝ fu; lya bǝ ngǝ ŋu wu ma a fya wa mbwo wwò ǝbwu yi chya wwo.”

19:12 From then on Pilate tried to release him, but the Jews cried out, “If you release this man, you are no friend of the emperor. 19:15 They cried out, “Away with him! Away with him! Crucify him!” Pilate asked them, “Shall I crucify your King?” The chief priests answered, “We have no king but the emperor.” Bwo swiŋǝ nǝ mǝtǝnǝ̀ ngǝ, “Lòo nghǝ nǝ zhǝ! Lòo nghǝ nǝ zhǝ! 19:18 There they crucified him, and with him two others, one on either side, with Jesus between them. Bwo ti’i mbu’utǝ Yesù wu nkǝ bu’utǝ bǝ bâtsǝ bǝ bya, wi mò’o ala bwo mà’à nǝ wùtsǝ̀ ala abwo ǹkwǝ̀bǝ, Yesù ti’ì ndzwi atǝtǝ̀.

19:19 Pilate also had an inscription written and put on the cross. It read, “Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews. “Bilatùsǝ̀ ti’i ŋwa’arǝ aŋwa’arǝ mbanǝ atyǝ̂ àbàŋnǝ̀ ngǝ, “Yesù ŋù Nazarètǝ̀, Ǹfò bǝ bǝ Dzudǝ̀nǝ̀.”

19:20 Many of the Jews read this inscription, because the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city; and it was written in Hebrew, in Latin, and in Greek. Bǝ bǝ Dzudǝ̀nǝ̀ ba ghà’atǝ toŋtǝ àbòŋnǝ zi mbǝ’ǝma adi’i zu ma bǝ bu’utǝ Yesu wu a dzwi nǝ benǝ toŋǝ̀; bǝ̂ kǝ ŋwa’arǝ nǝ ǝ̀boŋnǝ bǝ Dzusǝ̀ nǝ zǝ̀ Latǝ̀nǝ̀ nǝ zǝ̀ Grikǝ̀.

19:21 Then the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate, “Do not write, ‘The King of the Jews,’ but, ‘This man said, I am King of the Jews.'” Ǹfò nghwe bǝ Dzusǝ̀ swiŋǝ nǝ Bìlatùsǝ̀ ngǝ, “kǝ nǝ ŋwà’àrǝ̀ ngǝ, ‘Ǹfò bǝ̀ bǝ Dzudǝ̀nǝ̀,’ la ŋwà’àrǝ̀ bǝ ngǝ, ‘Ŋù wi swiŋǝ ngǝ zhǝ bǝ Ǹfò bǝ̀ bǝ Dzudǝ̀nǝ̀'”

19:22 Pilate answered, “What I have written I have written.” Bìlatùsǝ̀ swiŋǝ ngǝ, “Ànyù zu ma mǝ̀ ŋwà’àrǝ la mǝ̀ ntɛ̌ ŋwà’àrǝ̂.”

19:23 When the soldiers had crucified Jesus, they took his clothes and divided them into four parts, one for each soldier. They also took his tunic; now the tunic was seamless, woven in one piece from the top. Ma bǝ̀sogi bu’utǝ yi la nti’i nlo ǝtsǝ’ǝ dzwi nghatǝ nǝ ǝ̀dì’ì dzwi nǝkwà, ŋu tsǝmǝ lo adi’i mo’o. Bwo kǝ nlo atsǝ’ǝ zhi zǝ nghwe ma a bikàkǝ nǝ abu’u daŋǝ dzwi, bǝ ghǝrǝ tsɛ’ɛ̀ sǝbǝrǝ lǒ ako’onǝ tso ku’u ntenǝ.

19:24 So they said to one another, “Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it to see who will get it.” This was to fulfill what the scripture says, “They divided my clothes among themselves, and for my clothing they cast lots.” Bwo ti’i nswiŋǝ atǝtǝ bwo ngǝ a binǝ kǝ nǝ sa, a binǝ̀ tǝmǝ abrǝ̀ wu mǝ nzǝnǝ ŋu wu ma a bǝ lǒ.” Â dzwi li mǝ ghǝ̀rǝnǝ aŋù zu ma Aŋwà’àrǝ̀ Ŋwà’anǝ̀ swiŋǝ a bǝ nkò’onyù ngǝ, “Bwo ghatǝ ǝtsǝ’ǝ dzwa a tǝtǝ bwo, nkǝ tǝmǝ abrǝ̀ nǝ atsǝ’ǝ za zǝ̀ nghwe.”

19:25 And that is what the soldiers did. Meanwhile, standing near the cross of Jesus were his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. Lya kǝ mbǝ anyu zu ma bǝ̀sogì ghǝrǝ la. Màriyà mma bǝ̀ Yesù ti’i ntiŋǝ nǝbǝnǝ abàŋnǝ̀ bwo bǝ Màriyà mǝ̀ngyê Klofàsǝ̀ nǝ Màriya Màgdàlenà.

19:26 When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing beside her, he said to his mother, “Woman, here is your son.” Ma Yesu zǝ mmâ yi ma a tiŋǝ nǝbenǝ ŋu-kù yi wu ma a lanǝ nkòŋǝ̀ la, a swiŋǝ nǝ mma yi ngǝ, “Mǝ̀ngyê, li bǝ moo wwò.”

19:27 Then he said to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” And from that hour the disciple took her into his own home. nkǝ swiŋǝ a mbwo ŋù-kù yi wwa ngǝ, “Li bǝ mma wwò.” Ə lǒnǝ fǝ’ǝ̀ wu wwa ŋù-kù yi wwa ti’i nlo yi bwo zhǝ ghǝ ndyâ zhǝ.

19:28 After this, when Jesus knew that all was now finished, he said (in order to fulfill the scripture), “I am thirsty.” Ma Yesù ghǝrǝ zu zi nti’i nzhi ngǝ mǝ̀nyù mǝ̀tsǝ̀mǝ̀ mye la, (mǝ lwensǝnǝ anyù zu ma Àŋwà’àrǝ̀ Ŋwà’ànǝ̀ swiŋǝ), A swiŋǝ ngǝ, “Njì nkyî zaŋǝ wa”.

19:29 A jar full of sour wine was standing there. So they put a sponge full of the wine on a branch of hyssop and held it to his mouth. Ntò mǝ̀lù’ù mâ tsǝ̀nǝ̂ tsǝ̀ tiŋǝ nǝbenǝ. Bǝ lǒ kwùchya niŋǝ mǝmǝ mǝ̀lù’ù mu nti’i ndòŋsǝ nǝ atì nko’osǝ nghǝsǝ ntsu zhǝ.

19:30 When Jesus had received the wine, he said, “It is finished.” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. Ma â kwe mǝ̀lù’ù mu la nti’i nswiŋǝ ngǝ, “A myǝ.”Nti’i nzǝ̀ŋsǝ atyǝ̂ zhi nti’i nkwo.

19:31 Since it was the day of Preparation, the Jews did not want the bodies left on the cross during the sabbath, especially because that sabbath was a day of great solemnity. So they asked Pilate to have the legs of the crucified men broken and the bodies removed. Ma â bǝ̂ njwe ma njwe bǝ̂ ti’i laa bǝ njwǝ la’a la, bǝ Dzusǝ̀ kàkǝ nswà’à mǝ mɛ̀’ɛ̀tǝnǝ̀ ǝkwu bǝ̀ nǝ ǝ̀bàŋnǝ̀ njwe la’a, ̌mbǝ’ǝma njwe zu zha kǝ mbǝ tǝkò’ò njwe nghwe. Bwo bu’u mbwo a mbwo Bìlatùsǝ̀ ngǝ â mɛ̀’ɛ̀tǝ bǝ bǝ̀’ǝ̀tǝ mǝkù mya nti’i nshwi’isǝ wwa nǝ àbàŋnǝ̀.

19:32 Then the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first and of the other who had been crucified with him. Bǝ̀sogì ti’ì nyìi mbǝ̀’ǝ̀ akù ŋu ǹchyàmbì bwo wùtsǝ̀ wu ma bǝ̂ bu’utǝ̀ wwa bǝ̀ Yesù la.

19:33 But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs. Ma bwo yìi nkù’ù nu Yesù nzǝ ngǝ à tɛ̌ nkwo la, bwo kakǝ̌ zhi akù bǝ̀’ǝ.

19:34 Instead, one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and at once blood and water came out. La ŋù sogì wwa wî mò’o lǒ nǝ̀kòŋǝ̀ nshǝ ngi zhi, ǹkyi bwo ǝ̀liŋǝ kǝ̂ mbi nfu wu ngâ mò’o.

19:35 (He who saw this has testified so that you also may believe. His testimony is true, and he knows that he tells the truth.) (Ŋu wu ma â zǝ â biŋǝ̀, mǝ ngǝ ò kǝ mbiŋǝ. Ànyù zu ma â zǝ bǝ nkò’onyù, a kǝ̀ zhi ngǝ zhǝ swiŋǝ a nkò’onyù.)

19:36 These things occurred so that the scripture might be fulfilled, “None of his bones shall be broken.” Mǝnyù mi mǝtsǝ̀mǝ chya mǝ ghǝ̀rǝnǝ ànyù zu ma Àŋwà’àrǝ Ŋwà’anǝ̀ swiŋǝ a bǝ nkò’onyù ngǝ, “Akwɛ̌ zhi zǝdaŋǝ lyǝ kǝ̂ bǝ̀’ǝnǝ̀.”

19:37 And again another passage of scripture says, “They will look on the one whom they have pierced.” Adi’ì Aŋwà’arǝ̀ Ŋwa’anǝ tsǝ kǝ mbu nswiŋǝ ngǝ, “Bwo bǝlya lìi ŋù wu ma bwo shǝ la.”

19:38 After these things, Joseph of Arimathea, who was a disciple of Jesus, though a secret one because of his fear of the Jews, asked Pilate to let him take away the body of Jesus. Pilate gave him permission; so he came and removed his body. Ma mǝ̀nyù mî mǝtsǝ̀mǝ̀ chya la, Yòsebǝ̀ ma â fu fǝ Àrimàtiyà, ma â bi bǝ ŋù-ndzǝ̀mǝ̀ Yesù bǝ nyɛ̀’ɛtǝ mbǝ’ǝma â kǝ boo bǝ bǝ Dzudǝ̀nǝ̀. A ghǝ mbu’utǝ mbwo a mbwo Bìlatusǝ̀ ngǝ â mɛ̀’ɛtǝ zhǝ lô akwu Yesù. Bìlatùsǝ̀ ti’i nfyâ mǝtenǝ̀ a mbwo zhǝ â ti’i nghǝ nshwi’isǝ akwu Yesù.

19:39 Nicodemus, who had at first come to Jesus by night, also came, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, weighing about a hundred pounds. Nikodemùsǝ̀ ma â bi nkwe mbì ghǝ nzǝ Yesù bǝ nǝtwù’u, a yìi nǝ mǝ̀wurǝ mâtsǝ ma bǝ̂ nyamǝ nǝ̀ ǝ̀zà ma bǝ kǝ toŋǝ nǝ mǝǝ bwo alosǝ, mǝ̂ lanǝ ndrǝ.

19:40 They took the body of Jesus and wrapped it with the spices in linen cloths, according to the burial custom of the Jews. Bwo shwi’isǝ akwu Yesù nti’i nkwerǝ bwo mǝ̀wurǝ mi a mǝmǝ àtsǝ̀’ǝ tsǝ mbǝ̀ zu ma nòŋsǝ̀ twiŋǝ ŋu bǝ̀ bǝ Dzudǝ̀nǝ̀ dǝ̀sǝ̂.

19:41 Now there was a garden in the place where he was crucified, and in the garden there was a new tomb in which no one had ever been laid. Ǹsùŋǝ tsǝ dzwi adi’i wu ma bǝ̂ bu’utǝ Yesù wu la. A mǝmǝ̀ nsuŋǝ wu àdi’i nǝshyǝ zǝ mfyi dzwi wu ma bǝ brǝtǝ̂ ŋù dàŋǝ̀ wu tǝ̂ twiŋǝ.

19:42 And so, because it was the Jewish day of Preparation, and the tomb was nearby, they laid Jesus there. Əlya, mbǝ̀’ǝ̀ma â bǝ njwe ma bǝ̂ kǝ lɛrǝ ǝdi’i ma njwe bǝ laa ti’i bǝ njwe nghwe, àdì’ì nǝshyǝ zi kǝ ndzwi nǝbǝnǝ la, bwo ti’i twiŋǝ Yesù wǝ.
