The Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary
The Seven Sorrows, also known as Dolors of the Blessed Virgin Mary, refers to the seven most painful moments that the Virgin Mother encountered during her lifetime as the Christ Jesus’ Mother. Simeon prophesied the sorrows during the Baby Jesus presentation at the temple by his Mother Mary and fostered father, Joseph. He said, “…And a sword will pierce your own soul too.” (Luke 2:35) Below are photos, quotations and litany of the Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
